Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business on The Internet - Internet Marketing Center

I am going to take some risks here and start off by saying that the Insider Secrets to Marketing Your Business On The Internet Home Study Course, is not going to be the best course for eveyone and it would not be the course I recommend to those just starting out or getting their feet wet. While it is full of tons of valuable info and is now a classic internet marketing how-to course in its own right, I think there are better courses out there today. I have accepted the fact that I just might be the only person who feels that way - or maybe is willing to stand up and make that bold statement. Don't get me wrong, The Internet Marketing Center - started by the late internet marketing legend Corey Rudl and now headed up by Derek Gehl - are always at the cutting edge of internet marketing and they put out some great educational materials, and some of the best software programs for internet marketing. But that does not automatically mean this course is the best thing around or that it does not need to be updated (hint multi-media). In the recent 2007 update I saw that they added an 85 minute DVD of Derek Gehl Live, so that is good news.

I purchased the 2005 edition with Corey Rudl and found the course to be very flat, with minimal multi-media enhancements - an audio CD and resource CD. As a result I had a hard time getting started and actually implementing much of the information covered. There were many technical gaps for me - and I found myself saying "well that's good info, but how do I do that or what does that look like?". Now the actual content of the course is great, it is very dense - 2 gigantic binders and several CDs - and it is incredibly thorough in explaining how to market a business on the internet. It's weakness for me was that it was not multimedia, I was overwhelmed by the information and I had a hard time figuring out how to implement the material I just learned. If you like learning from a manual, then you might have more luck that I did.

My honest opinion of this course, based on my personal experience of having used it on and off for 2 years now - is that it works incredibly well for those who already have a business up and running - either enhancing an existing internet business or taking an offline business online. I had neither of those - I was starting from scratch. I realize now that what I needed and was looking for was a course that had a different starting point. While it was not the course that got me started online, I do find myself referencing the Advanced Techniques binder quite regularly. Now the course has become valuable and useful to me. I just wish someone would have shared this exact information with me instead of selling the heck out of it. My experience with this course and not being able to find one review that said "you know this course is great IF you have a business and not the best for trying to decide on a business idea", it would have saved me time, money and frustration. I was a bit fooled by the success stories - but keep in mind, chances are, they did not start off where I started off - think of the BowFlex commercial. None of those great bodies were created by the BowFlex - they just use the BowFlex to maintain their physique - those bodies were created in a gym. I kind of think the IMC course is the same way - it did not get me started but it is helping me maintain and grow my internet marketing efforts. If you decide to purchase this course, you will be making a wise investment - but it just might not be the course that you need right now - depends on your learning style and where you are with you internet business exploration. It might be a course that you consider buying down the road for the advanced techniques it offers. I should point out that they do offer a one year money-back guarantee that is hard to beat.

The Internet Marketing Center produces some great materials, it is just a matter of getting the right one that fits with where you are now with your internet business. If nothing else, sign up for the Internet Marketing Center's newsletter - always full of great marketing tips.
